12th century
It was rebuilt during the 16th century. This church has a nave and two aisles. The chapels of the head part are covered by lateral gothic vaults, and the central one by intermediate ribs, while windows are decorated with mullions. Only the lower section of the tower has been retained from the medieval work.
Inside the church, can be highlighted the main altarpiece, which has expressive sculptures and large correctness in its figures. It was sculpted by French-born Jaques Bernal. Its twelve pictorial compositions are work of t Juan de Borgoña el Joven, who was one of the great Renaissance masters of this city. His colleagues Lorenzo de Ávila and Luis del Castillo, painted in 1540 the altarpiece of the chapel of the Sedano family, which architecture is a Juan Ducete el Viejo work. To another painter form Toro called Antonio Sánchez de Salamanca, belong the paintings known as “La Presentation”, dated form 1567.
The access is free of charge but there are neither visiting hours nor guided tours.
The temple can be visited only during mass celebrations.
