Church of San Andrés

Olmo de la Guareña

12th century

The Romanesque church is dedicated to St. Andrew.

This church has a nave and 3 aisles with semicircular arch and barrel vaults. It was built of brick on foundations and bases, but there are some areas of stone always jointed together by a layer of lime that embellishes it. Light materials of masonry can be seen in the blind walls as well as decoration with double blind semicircular arches, angled-brick friezes and cornices.

Can be highlighted the apse and the tower, which usually has a pyramid or sloped shape with successive and overlapping bodies that decrease in size progressively. First bodies of the apse are blind and in the highest bodies can be seen alternating holes.
