12th century
It was built between the 12th and 13th centuries (only the southern wall and the doorway is what remains today), and was rebuilt in the 16th and 18th centuries. It has a Latin cross and a single nave which was reinforced with buttresses on the outside.
Their doorways belong to late-Romanesque period. The most important is the one in the southern side. Both doorways are decorated with pointed arches with triple archivolt decorated as well with floral motifs, human heads, diamond tips, rosettes... They are protected by a frieze of large leaves. Archivolts rest on an impost and columns with acanthus-leaves and volutes capitals. The five-body belfry can be highlighted.
Inside, in the main altarpiece is the sculpture of the Assumption and the so-called “crucifijo de la agonía” (crucifix of death throes). Can be highlighted a Lying-Christ which is articulated and its organ as well.
In the sacristy is the Parish Museum, where are exhibited several sculptures of the 14th and 16th centuries and religious items.
This church has been declared a Historic Artistic Monument.
The access is free of charge but there are neither visiting hours nor guided tours.
The temple can be visited only during mass celebrations.
